This arrangement was commissioned by the Oriana Women's Choir of Toronto for a concert titled Hymns for Hers, which included arrangements of familiar hymns commissioned from a number of Canadian composers, including John Beckwith, Eleanor Daley, Ruth Watson Henderson, Derek Holman, and Jon Washburn. The premiere performance was March 1, 2008 by Oriana, in Toronto.
The arrangement is available in its original version for treble choir, organ, piano, flute and oboe, and also in a scaled-down version for treble choir and piano. The congregation/audience my join on the final verse in either version.
